Snowy Winter Landscape
I completed this piece over a few days of relentless rain, which, here in England, is a sign that winter is on it's way. The piece depicts a snowy field on a darkening evening. As a child, I always loved walking home through the snow in the already-dark afternoons when school finished. I think it's something about the strangeness of the brightness of the ground and the darkness of the sky that I used to love. Sadly, I live on the south-coast at the moment and the most snow we've gotten has been a 15 minute snow dusting... But, making this piece took me right back to those old memories.

Hand embroidered design on unbleached cotton fabric in a 4x4 inch embroidery hoop. Design comes backed with fabric.
My first winter themed piece of 2020!
This was also the first time I experimented with using (synthetic) wool on my embroidery work. In real life, the white snow section looks so, so bright when in the sunlight - it really brings out all the little details of the knots in a way that I love.
